The first piece of art I made when I became chronically ill with POTS and FND, in honour of the fact I could only walk incredibly slow, with my walking cane. I like to think of the snail as a representation of the mobility aids that now helped me live my life. I had alot of complicated feelings about my disability during this time period, particularly a sense of shame just existing as a young person either in a wheelchair or using a cane. I wanted to capture my new way of moving around in the world in a manner that felt beautiful and gentle, as I started to embrace this new slow-living.
